Game Changers along with several of its partners seek to reduce the impact of recidivism by providing medical screenings to its mentees through Healthcare Services.  Such screening may be onsite or referred to a partner for assessments.  Each case is different as all services are customized to the individual.

Incarceration is associated with a considerable number of poor health outcomes (), including hypertension, infectious diseases, stress-related illnesses, and mental health issues (). Incarceration is definitively linked to poor health, and upon release from prison, many individuals experience difficulty in maintaining good health and access to care in the community (). Incarceration is meant to deter future criminal activity; however, incarceration has a host of collateral consequences. One often-ignored factor influencing future criminality and reentry outcomes is the worsening (or even static) health (), of those who have been incarcerated. (Wallace and Wang, “Does in-prison physical and mental health impact recidivism?”, NCBI Resources, 2020).
